Birthing . . . . .

B r thing (be our thing) . . . .

B rth thing (be earth thing; be earthing) . . . .

B rth ing (be earth I in g - for gravity) . . . .

Well, let's try that last one. Spirit bears an earthing. Or an earthling. That's the 'Earth I' in the local gravity well - I in gravity. To get this image, look at a small g. It's actually a picture of a spiral - either a spiral emerging clockwise (the birthing g), or going in counter-clockwise (the deathing g; the grave).

Well, what is the earth? It's a planet. A planet (used loosely to include suns, moons, etc.) is a net with a plan. It's a world (whirled) which captures loose gaseous matter and whirls or condenses it into a more compact body. The whirling is the spiral which pulls the energy and matter in and holds it together. Birthing is Spirit becoming matter. What holds it together is what matters - the purpose is the plan in the planet.

And why does Spirit become matter? To learn what matters. What matters to us. What matter is to us. Light beings slow down in order to study themselves. To grow consciousness.

Earth=Urth. Urth - u (you) r (are) th (the) … the what? The one. You are the one you are. But in order to know that, you first need birth. Be earth.

But why not just Birth? Why 'birthing'? What's that I-n-g?

I in gravity is my fate. My birth leads inevitably to my death.

I once took a workshop with some folks who thought they could achieve physical immortality. Personally, I thought that was a dumb idea. Why would you want to do that? No birth, no death; but equally, no death, no birth. What matters to me is what I gather together out of my experience (in the words of the poet, 'take what you have gathered from co-incidence… the empty sky is falling in on you, it's all over now, baby blue'*). At least I think that's what he said. We make choices. We make guesses. We react to what comes toward us, and then we act on otherness. Some strategies work well; others bring us grief. Joy teaches, and pain teaches. And then we sum it up and give it back. It's all over now, baby blue.

But it's not. All over. Or rather it is - all over. All over every place and everyone we've touched. The afterimage of our lives. Floating in the soup, the physical, or fizz I call, life. Gee, we've gone back in gravity, the grave. But someone else has lapped up the taste we've left behind - our children maybe, or our students, or the garden we planted - and that becomes part of the next birthing.

If I'm Joe M'wubo, or Li Nguyen, do I want to be reborn the same being? Live the same life? Of course not. Been there, done that. I'm spirit. I AM. I want a new experience of myself. The death of I in Gravity is the birth of new I in Gravity. Works for me. I think I planned it this way. And even if I didn't, it's what I got. So live the life you got. Birth, be earth.
